Hanns Eisler – Filmmusiken mit Sinn

Mit seiner Kunst wollte Hanns Eisler nicht weniger als die Gesellschaft verändern. Hanns Eisler, 1898 in Leipzig geboren, hat das internationale filmmusikalische Schaffen von experimentellen Arbeiten bis hin zu oscarnominierten Hollywoodfilmen nachhaltig beeinflusst. Der brillante Komponist war auch politisch engagiert und wissenschaftlich aktiv. Heutzutage ist er vorrangig in Fachkreisen bekannt. Anlässlich seines 125. Geburtstags präsentiert die Cinémathèque Leipzig in Kooperation mit der Internationalen Hanns Eisler Gesellschaft die Veranstaltungsreihe HANNS EISLER – FILMMUSIKEN MIT SINN. Mit Filmen, Einführungen, Gesprächen und einem Konzert nähern wir uns Hanns Eislers Musikkunst und Leben und diskutieren die Rezeption und Bedeutung seines Schaffens.

With his art, Hanns Eisler wanted nothing less than to change society. Hanns Eisler, born in Leipzig in 1898, has had a lasting influence on international film music, from experimental works to Oscar-nominated Hollywood films. The brilliant composer was also politically and scientifically active. Today he is primarily known in expert groups. On the occasion of his 125th birthday, Cinémathèque Leipzig, in cooperation with the International Hanns Eisler Society, is presenting the event series HANNS EISLER – FILMMUSIKEN MIT SINN. ARBEITERLIED, ZWÖLFTONMUSIK UND VIERZEHN ARTEN, MIT ANSTAND TRAURIG ZU SEIN. With films, introductions, discussions and a concert we approach Hanns Eisler's musical art and life and discuss the reception and importance of his work.
