Der verlorene Engel

1937 wird Ernst Barlachs Skulptur "Der Schwebende" von Nazis aus dem Dom von Güstrow gestohlen. Auf Franz Fühmanns Novelle "Das schlimme Jahr" zurückgehend, wird im Film jener 24. August 1937 in langsamer Nachdenklichkeit geschildert. Kirsten unterbreitet dem Publikum ein ästhetisches Angebot, das auf aktive und gleichberechtigte Mitarbeit im Rezeptionsprozess abzielt – ein Anliegen, das die filmmusikalische Ebene mit hoher eigener Spannung trägt. Der Film wurde noch vor der Premiere infolge des 11. Plenums des ZK der SED verboten. Damit teilt er das Schicksal von Filmen wie SPUR DER STEINE oder DENK BLOSS NICHT ICH HEULE.

In 1937 Ernst Barlach's sculpture "Der Schwebende" was stolen by Nazis from the Güstrow Cathedral. Going back to Franz Fühmann's novella "Das schlimme Jahr", the film describes that 24th August 1937 in slow reflection. Kirsten offers the audience an aesthetic proposal that aims at active and equal participation in the reception process - a concern that carries the film music level with a high degree of tension of its own. The film was banned even before the premiere as a result of the 11th plenary session of the CC of the SED. Thus it shares the fate of films like SPUR DER STEINE or DENK BLOSS NICHT ICH HEULE.
