AUF DER KIPPE / ŁUŽA

Die Lausitz, eine Region am östlichen Rand Deutschlands, aber mitten in Europa gelegen, hat schon viele Veränderungen erlebt. Der Braunkohleabbau prägte die regionale Identität und den Wohlstand von Generationen. Nach der Wende folgte eine Deindustrialisierung von historischem Ausmaß, von der sich die Region noch immer nicht erholt hat. Mit dem lang geplanten Kohleausstieg steht die Lausitz abermals vor einem tiefen Einschnitt und dem Bedarf sich wieder neu zu definieren. Der Dokumentarfilm von Britt Beyer ist ein sensibler Blick in die Region, in die Erinnerungen, Ängsten und Wünschen von Menschen, die dort leben.

Das geplante Gespräch mit der Regisseurin muss leider ausfallen. 

Lusatia, a region on the eastern edge of Germany but situated in the middle of Europe, has already experienced many changes. Brown coal mining shaped the regional identity and prosperity for generations. After the fall of the Berlin Wall and reunification, a deindustrialisation of historic proportions followed, from which the region has still not recovered. With the long-planned coal exit, Lusatia is once again facing a deep cut and the need to redefine itself. The documentary by Britt Beyer is a sensitive look into the region, into the memories, fears and desires of people who live there.
