SOULEYMANES GESCHICHTE

Souleymane hält sich mit prekären Gelegenheitsjobs über Wasser, als Essenskurier rast er mit seinem Fahrrad durch die überfüllten Straßen von Paris. Gedanklich ist Souleymane ganz woanders. Der junge Guineer möchte in Frankreich Asyl beantragen – er hat noch zwei Tage, um sich auf das wichtige Interview bei der Ausländerbehörde vorzubereiten. Ein Wettlauf gegen die Zeit beginnt. Fiktion und Realität verschmelzen für Abou Sangare (Souleymane), den großartigen Laienschauspieler, dessen Antrag auf Legalisierung seines Aufenthalts kurz vor seiner Auszeichnung in Cannes abgelehnt wurde. Mit SOULEYMANES GESCHICHTE schafft Boris Lojkine ein fesselndes Drama über Migration und Sans-Papiers in Zeiten der Gig Economy. Ein philosophischer Essay über Resilienz, in dem Fiktion schonungslos in die Realität eindringt.

Im Anschluss an den Film laden wir gemeinsam mit der Diakonie Leipzig zu einem Filmgespräch mit Yosra Alhindi (Migrantinnen- und Migrantenbeirat Leipzig) und  Theresa Delze (Leitung einer Gemeinschaftsunterkunft in Leipzig) ein.

Souleymane keeps his head above water with precarious temporary jobs, rushing through the crowded streets of Paris on his bike as a food delivery courier. Mentally, Souleymane is somewhere else entirely. The young Guinean wants to apply for asylum in France—he has two days left to prepare for the important interview at the immigration office. A race against time begins. Fiction and reality merge for Abou Sangare (Souleymane), the great amateur actor whose application to legalize his residence was rejected shortly before he received his award in Cannes.
