A poetic journey to Mexico’s Costa Chica: MORETONES tells the story of a region whose unique culture and natural environment are under threat from climate change and environmental destruction. Blurring the lines between myth and reality, the film weaves together the history of people of African descent with the mysterious tonos – animal spirits that are inextricably linked to human life. A striking portrait of memory, identity and the fragile connection between people, nature and cultural heritage. (Spanish with German subtitles)
The screening will be followed by a discussion with director Ginan Seidl.
