UND DER ZUKUNFT ZUGEWANDT

Antonia ist eine überzeugte Kommunistin und Angehörige der Kolonne Links. In den 1930ern bricht sie mit ihren Freundinnen in das Land der erträumten politischen Ordnung auf, die Sowjetunion. Während der stalinistischen Säuberungen wird sie zu Unrecht zu mehreren Jahren Haft im Gulag verurteilt. Nun kehrt Antonia mit ihrer schwerkranken Tochter in die DDR zurück, wo sie ein ehrenhafter Empfang, eine schöne Wohnung, neue Arbeit und die Sprachlosigkeit erwarten. Denn über alles, was mit ihr in der Sowjetunion geschehen ist, darf sie nicht reden.

Im Anschluss an den Film findet ein Gespräch mit der Historikerin Renate Hürtgen zur (Nicht-)Aufarbeitung des Stalinismus in der DDR statt. Renate Hürtgen war selbst Teil der DDR-Opposition und u.a. Mitbegründerin der Initiative für eine unabhängige Gewerkschaftsbewegung.

Antonia is a convinced communist and a member of the Left Column. In the 1930s, she and her two friends set off for the country of their dreamed-of political order - the Soviet Union. Some time later, during the time of Stalin's repression, she was unjustly sentenced to several cruel years in the Gulag. Now Antonia returns to her homeland, the GDR, with her critically ill daughter. An honourable welcome, a nice apartment, new work and speechlessness are waiting for her there. After all, she is not allowed to talk about anything that happened to her in the Soviet Union. (in German)

The film will be followed by a discussion with historian Renate Hürtgen about the (non-) work-up of Stalinism in the GDR. Renate Hürtgen herself was part of the GDR opposition and co-founder of the Initiative for an Independent Workers' Movement.
